- >Trumpet SLIP to Sun. What to run on Sun?
- I have also been trying to do this. I have not got this working yet so
- this
- may be entirely off base but for what it's worth here is what I have
- found so far...
-
- You must have an entry in the hosts.slip file for your machine in the
- format:
- login-name normal local-dot-address remote-dot-address
-
- Then you may use the SLIPLOGIN command from the command prompt to switch
- to slip mode.
-
- I have found this info in the book TCP/IP Network Administration from
- O'Reilly on page 128.
-
- My problems may be related to communication parameters or slip
- compression. Hope this helps. Please let me know if you get this working.

- Anybody know how to do an Action using winirc? On the vax irc client, it's
- /me [action message]. Trying the same in winirc gets an unknown command
- message back from the server.

- I have had no luck getting winsock to work at all. I have a Proaudio card
- too. It never occured to me that it could be to blame. I also have
- a SCSI hard drive with and Adaptec SCSI card.
-
- In any case, I can get slip via some dos programs but winsock keeps claiming
- thathe host can't be resolved (that is trumpits, winfinger, etc)
-
- hope we can get some help!
